Bharat GI Mahotsav

Bharat GI MahotsavA Geographical Indication tag safeguards the cultural heritage inbuilt in products linked to specific regions while providing them legal recognition. GIs also provide fair economic benefits for local artisans and producers by fortifying the authenticity of their work, building a bridge between the product and its place of origin. Protecting a product with GI tag also prevents unauthorised use, boosts exports, and preseves the intellectual property rights of the artists behind them.
Nuturing this spirit further, the city of Lucknow came alive with the vibrant and diverse Bharat GI Mahotsav, celebrating India’s GI-tagged products at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Uttar Pradesh from March 28-30, 2024. The event, organised by ASSOCHAM in collaboration with the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, highlighted the essence of India’s rich cultural heritage through its GI-tagged treasures.
The event showcased India’s diverse GI products, from textiles to handicrafts, along with enabling connections between producers, exporters, artisans, and global buyers. Expert-led sessions focused on marketing, sustainable development, and the protection of GI products. The event served as a key networking hub, fostering new business opportunities and strengthening GI product promotion in national and international markets.
The LexOrbis team, including Dr. Shivani Shrivastav and Dr. Ramani Raju, actively engaged in the Mahotsav and connected with key industry professionals.
