IAPP Asia Forum
As the reliance on data increases globally, the need for robust data protection and privacy measures has never been more critical. Businesses and governments are under growing pressure to safeguard sensitive information, ensure compliance with complex regulations, and address the ethical concerns surrounding data use. The IAPP Asia Privacy Forum 2024 provided a timely platform to tackle these urgent priorities, highlighting the importance of building resilient privacy frameworks in an era of rapid technological advancements and cross-border data flows.
Held on July 17–18 in Singapore, the forum was conducted alongside Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Week 2024, organised by the Personal Data Protection Commission. Featuring a distinguished lineup of expert speakers, including regulators from India, Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore, the event facilitated meaningful discussions on the future of data protection and governance.
The forum brought together experts to discuss the latest trends and challenges in data privacy and governance, the intersection of data, AI, and regulations, the evolving concept of data sovereignty, advancements in privacy-enhancing technologies, comparative analysis of data protection laws across different jurisdictions, practical approaches to accountability in privacy and AI, strategies for managing risks, and adapting to emerging privacy laws. Sessions also explored fostering cross-border data flows, balancing privacy and security, and navigating finance-specific privacy regulations.
