The 7th AIPLA Women in IP Law Committee Global Networking Event 2025 continued its impactful journey in #Chennai, #TamilNadu, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, hosted by LexOrbis Chennai office. The session brought together an inspiring panel of women professionals who shared their insights and experiences around the theme of “Innovation and Collaboration”.
Dr. Mahalakshmi Muthuswamy, TVS Motors, highlighted how government-backed initiatives, development programs, and upskilling efforts tailored specifically for women are gradually transforming the innovation landscape. She also stressed that meaningful innovation requires strong cross-departmental collaboration.
J. Meena, Indian Patent Office, shared a powerful perspective that gender plays no role in innovation. Despite existing barriers, the number of women innovators is steadily growing. She also highlighted IPO’s proactive initiatives in expediting women-led innovations and creating opportunities to boost their participation in the IP ecosystem.
Building on the conversation, Rashmi Angeline Grace, Pfizer, pointed out that women now hold 40–45% of leadership roles in the pharmaceutical sector and described women as the true architects of both innovation and collaboration. According to her, when diverse suggestions are welcomed, innovation naturally follows.
The panel was skilfully moderated by Shikha Singh, LexOrbis, who guided the discussion with valuable reflections on the importance of inclusivity and forward-thinking leadership in IP.
Shwetha Suresh, Caterpillar, emphasised that sharing different perspectives is key to sparking new ideas. She spoke about the power of uplifting one another and embracing an abundance mindset to unlock innovation through collaboration.
Sindhia Rani, Saint-Gobain India, shared that teams are increasingly recognising the advantages of diversity and the unique strengths that women innovators bring to the table. She underlined the importance of mentorship and sponsorship as essential tools to bolster women-led innovation in organisations.
The event was a powerful reminder that collaboration and innovation go hand in hand and that women are not only contributing to this progress but are actively leading the way.
